Royal Danish Orchestra musician, Percussionist Hans Fulling (1912 – 2002) is the photographer of over 17,000 photographs, taken with a Leica 35mm camera purchased just before World War II.
Hans Fulling photographed people – his colleagues in the Royal Danish Orchestra, the Tivoli Concert Orchestra, at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, as well as family and friends; but he was also inspired by people in the city and its diverse environments. He was a good friend of King Frederik IX, and had special permission to take pictures of the King and his closest friends.
These photos – in a cabinet full of film rolls and negative booklets – were handed down to us by his son Hans-Jørgen Fulling. They were digitized with support from the Royal Danish Orchestra and the Odd Fellows’ Lodge and prove to be a very valuable insight into the period from the late 1930s to the early 1970s.
